Enhancing Coordination for Improved National Security

During the recent 2nd Development Partners Roundtable meeting held at a Nairobi Hotel, Dr. Raymond Omollo, the principal secretary of the Ministry of Interior and National Administration, emphasized the need for enhanced coordination among development partners to bolster the management of the county's security arrangements.

Dr. Omollo stressed the importance of better synergy among partners to address challenges and maximize collective achievements in the year 2024.

He acknowledged the progress made in capacity building with development partners but highlighted the persistent need for improved coordination and capacity enhancement among officers.

Speaking during the event Dr. Omollo said; ” I cannot over-emphasize the fact that we need to be much more coordinated than we are, of course we are doing well but it is possible to do much more than we are doing in terns of coordination”.

Notably, Dr. Omollo recognized key partners, including the European Union, the International Organization for Migration, the German Development Agency, and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, for their significant contributions to enhancing the country's border security.

He continued to add; ” We appreciate the level of capacity building that we a have been able to achieve while working with you as development partners”. He however noted, “There is still a huge gap in that space and even as we improve the terms of service of our officers we are also able to improve their capacity to do their jobs well.

The principal secretary also took note of some development partners whom he termed as very instrumental in enhancing the country’s border security situation to include: European Union, the International Organization for Migration, the German Development Agency and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.
